OUR SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE
Jesus is Lord! We continue to worship through God through the Summer months at High Street Christian Church. Beginning we will have one service of worship at 10:00 am with Sunday School at 9:00 am. These will be the regular times through September 13.
Our office hours are 8:00 am until 2:00 pm Monday thru Thursday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday. If you are in need of entry to the church beyond these hours, please call ahead and arrangements will be made.
Highlights
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
The theme for Vacation Bible School 2009 is “ROME - Paul and the Underground Church.” Children will have the thrill of visiting an underground church, explore a crowded Roman marketplace, tiptoe past watchful Roman guards, encourage coura geous first-century Christians who meet in a dark cave, laugh as they race chariots, and visit Paul for daily discoveries about God’s love. Vacation Bible School will kick off on Sunday, June 28 following worship with lunch. Monday thru Thursday, June 29 -July 3, we will be serving dinner at 5:30 pm with VBS beginning at 6:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with the program.
OPEN DOOR FELLOWSHIP
The next meeting of the Open Door Fellowship will be Saturday, July 11 at 7:00 pm at the home of Beth Neiger.
RUTH ANNE LOWE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
Nominations are now being accepted for the Ruth Anne Lowe Community Service Award. Nominees for the award must be a member of High Street Christian Church and have been an outstanding volunteer both within HSCC and the community at large. A written summary should be sent to Mission Department, High Street Christian Church or given to the church office no later than June 28, 2009.
OWM SPONSORED BRUNCH & CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
On Sunday, July 19 after worship join us for a ‘Christmas in July’ All-Church Brunch sponsored by OWM. This will be an opportunity to fellowship together while touching the lives of those in our community. The cost for this meal, one gift item (t-shirts, underwear or socks) to be given to Mason Community Learning Center on Exchange Street. Following the meal the Discernment Team will share God’s call to the future as we continue to affirm our mission as “A Christ-centered community seeking, celebrating and sharing God’s love.”

To all the church members and friends who visited John S. Knight Center this spring for their Sunday Brunch. 10% of all guests checks was donated back to the church. A check was recently received in the amount of $189.50.

A NEW COUNSELING MINISTRY
We're excited to announce the start of a new ministry at our church! Chaplain Lin Barnett is a professional state licensed counselor. After Retiring from his long tenured position from Akron General, Chaplain Barnett desires to continue with his love for counseling. Chaplain Barnett is a professional state licensed counselor and will be offering this counseling opportunity for individuals and families who need help figuring out problems in their lives. Because High Street is a non-profit organization, we are able to offer a substantial reduction in fees to High Street Members based on a sliding scale platform or $25.00 per hour minimum.
